Was given a good idea on friday night regards raising funds
Its called joker an the idea is to do raffle say at a £1 a go an whoever wins the raffle automatically wins £10
The winner then gets to pick a card out of a pack of cards(normal 52 pack with 1 added joker) and if they pick the joker out the pack they then win the jackpot
If not the card they pick gets discarded an the jackpot moves on to the following week
The person that i was speaking to about it says the jackpot could go into the 4 figures sometimes
Any other good ideas an i will present them to the powers that be

A local club runs this scheme and I think it is probably better suited to that type of setting, it's a weekly scheme, so unless you've regular attendance at a single location, it can be a lot of work, both collecting and operating the game. To run it around our situation, would be difficult - not impossible, but difficult! e.g. It'll be 3 weeks since we've been at the vale due to away games and postponements and unlike the lottery which can run when folks aren't in attendance, this model can't.

Agree with Blastieboy, heard of this at a boolers in Johnstone and it ran to over £2000, the higher it got the more people came in to take part.
We were thinking of running it over the summer at the bowling club, may work as a joint venture?

BEW - I didn't mean to be negative!

We need to do three things:

-a regular and planned programme of events, race nights, disco's and quiz nights - one event every 8 weeks, get them in the diary so folks can plan ahead!

- business sponsorship, we need to make more of this, Scottish offers the opportunity for match sponsorship, publicity, free tickets for the game, say 8, drinks before the game and after. Need to milk business contacts!

- and a once a year sponsorship bash, a walk or bike ride, something that's a laugh for us as participants, but can attract support from families, friends and workmates!

Add into this the sportsman's dinner and the Burn's night then we've got a good regular income, that also offers entertainment and fun!

Sounds simple enough. You could do it on the bus to away games. everyone puts in a few quid then once you have 52 folk in you can start drawing cards.

It would be better to get more than 52 involved, the raffle is not restricted in numbers, the winner gets to turn the card to find the joker,if not there is a roll over etc

Totally agree with Blastieboy re fundraising.

We go round in circles on here and we get nowhere.

I'm not having a go at the committee but do they have specific roles (or even sub-committees) to cover the following?

Commercial Sponsorhip
Regular events
One Off Fund Raisers

Some decent organisation and I'm sure non-committe members would share some of the work needed to run events.

As Blackamber says elsewhere it's amazing the response to this post compared to others.

Not one committee member has had the time or inclination to inform us of how fundraising is structured or what others can do to help.

We are now onto more the 20 replies each on Boyd and Burley posts.

The funraising post got only one or two supportive replies.
The raffle ticket post got NO replies.

We lie 4th bottom of the league, the squad is thin, we have no cash.
A kick start is needed big style, the weather is hitting already, a long winter ahead with little gate money we need plans in place ASAP

Okay, who's up for it?

PM me if you want to get involved, don't want to cut across committee, so we'll involve them in the developing the ideas and plans.

No time wasters, let's get plan together and deliver

The Jets used to always have a Boxing Day disco which was popular as people were glad to get out after XMas. Can something like that not be arranged? Also other events like Halloween etc were missed. More opportunity to raise cash!
Another idea- Print a wee flyer with Ladeside Merchandise on - Mugs, Fitba Tops, Keyrings etc. with an order form. The form could be sent to an agreed address along with cheque to pay and the goods delivered to the door by helpers.
